Catalytics Pte Ltd., a recognized catastrophe modelling company in Asia, has built a windstorm model for the Philippines intending to continue its commitment to strengthening resilience to natural disasters. The Windstorm Model is tailored to the Philippines, specifically to the insurance industry.
The Catalytics Windstorm model methodology was designed to statistically extrapolate historical records and use a stochastic model to generate reasonable, synthetic typhoon events.
The model was developed in collaboration with Dr. Alan Pineda, Ph.D., who is a Filipino meteorologist with 30 years of working experience, mostly with the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and specializing in hydrometeorology. Indeed, the company values local knowledge and expertise.
With Catalytics Windstorm Model, the industry can enforce appropriate financial protection, and as an emerging economy, the Philippines has to face and deal with natural disasters.
